Child's remains found in Illinois woods after Missouri kidnapping

Police in Missouri have linked the discovery of a child's remains in Illinois to a parental kidnapping case. Ronnell Marquese Jones and Kirstie Dora face charges in the investigation.

A Missouri man remains in custody after authorities found a child's remains in Stookey Township, Illinois. The discovery is connected to the case of a missing boy whose father allegedly refused to return him to his mother.

Ronnell Marquese Jones, 32, was arrested on June 30 and charged with parental kidnapping and harassment. Kirstie Dora, 35, was arrested on July 2 on the same charges. Jones is the boy's biological father and had not allowed the mother to see the child since April 2024.

The mother last saw her son in Jones' vehicle. She reported him missing later that year. Witnesses told police they believed the boy was dead. Jones gave conflicting accounts of the child's location and refused to cooperate with investigators.

Desloge police announced the remains discovery on July 9. Neither defendant has been charged in connection with the death. Jones is scheduled to appear in court on July 16 and both are being held without bond at the St. Francois County Jail.
