Claudia Bahamón receives the 37th Premio Cafam a la Mujer award

RCN presenter Claudia Bahamón was honored in the 37th edition of the Premio Cafam a la Mujer for her leadership in education, sustainability, and social transformation. The award recognizes her efforts in environmental defense and promoting responsible habits to mitigate climate change. This 37-year-old prize, which highlights women's work in Colombia, also spotlighted Chechy Murillo as the 2026 Mujer Cafam.

In the 37th edition of the Premio Cafam a la Mujer, RCN presenter Claudia Bahamón received an honor for her exemplary voice in environmental defense and sustainability promotion. The award highlights her contributions to education and transforming habits among thousands, fostering responsible consumption, natural resource conservation, and climate change mitigation. Bahamón, with 25 years at the channel, emphasized her commitment to communities in territories, visiting them to understand issues and seek solutions.

"I receive it with great humility because I am alongside women who really work 365 days a year in the territories for communities, ancestry, conservation, and culture. For me, it is an honor and obviously I receive it with great responsibility, because while I do what I do because I am passionate about it for many years, I like to go to the territories, I dedicate a large part of the year to going to these places, talking with the communities, understanding their problems to seek solutions for them, I also feel that it is a very big responsibility to use this voice that RCN channel has given me for 25 years to help join their causes and help everyone know what they are really doing in the territory," said Bahamón.

The essence of the Premio Cafam a la Mujer is a special mention for women who weave social works, sow opportunities, and build dreams, full of life, love, and strength. Over 37 years, it has recognized more than 6,000 anonymous women who do not seek applause, but whom Cafam visibilizes and empowers. "It's 37 years in which we have recognized more than 6,000 women over all this time, women who are anonymous and do not need any kind of recognition, but that's what Cafam is for, to recognize them, empower them, and visibilize them. It happens just in this women's month, a special date because we are warriors, we are beings who achieve everything we set out to do, we are not afraid of anything and if we are, we do it with fear. We are very brave women," said Marta Lucía Merchán, leader of the prize.

Additionally, Chechy Murillo was named Mujer Cafam 2026 for her Moda y Flores foundation, which empowers women, people with disabilities, and vulnerable populations through purpose-driven fashion. The organization has trained 3,490 people, spotlighted 1,050 entrepreneurs, generated 150 satellite jobs, and delivered over 10,000 markets in emergencies. From 146 initiatives submitted from various regions, this prize reflects the diversity of female leadership in social, economic, environmental, and cultural contexts in Colombia.
