Dhani Harrison and Nigel Godrich release Dragonflies debut single 'Slower'

Dhani Harrison and longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich have formed the new band Dragonflies, releasing their debut single 'Slower' on July 26 ahead of a self-titled album.

The pair will release their self-titled debut album on September 18 via Dark Horse Records/BMG. The album opens with 'Slower', which features tape loops, layered percussion and Harrison’s vocals in a hazy, trip-hop-influenced style.

A hand-drawn psychedelic video for the track was directed by Bristol animator RUFFMERCY. Harrison and Godrich are longtime friends who began working together during the pandemic.

Godrich said of their process: “It’s like one person throwing something in the air and the other person catching it.” Harrison added that Godrich “has strong opinions about what he wants to hear, and for me it’s very humbling.”

The album draws influences from Beth Gibbons, David Sylvian and Ryuichi Sakamoto, with the pair describing its sound as “earthbound space rock.”
