Disney+ has begun streaming select content in the HDR10+ format, starting with over 1,000 titles from its Hulu integration. This move caters to Samsung TV users, as the service previously supported only HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Additional Disney+ content will gain HDR10+ support in the future.
On October 30, 2025, Samsung announced that Disney+ now supports HDR10+, a dynamic metadata HDR format rivaling Dolby Vision. The rollout is limited initially to certain Hulu content, following Disney's acquisition of Hulu in June. According to Samsung, “over 1,000” Hulu titles are available in HDR10+, with “additional Disney+” originals and movies to follow.
Previously, Disney+ offered only static HDR10 and Dolby Vision formats. Hulu itself began providing HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision content in 2021. With the unified Disney+ and Hulu app, this HDR10+ support extends to the broader platform, though restricted to a subset of titles.
Samsung TVs from 2018 onward, including Crystal UHD, OLED, The Frame, QLED, and Micro LED models, are the first devices compatible with Disney+'s HDR10+ streaming. This is particularly relevant since Samsung does not support Dolby Vision, appealing to the brand's dominant market position in TVs. The Disney+ app on Apple's tvOS also indicates HDR10+ availability, as noted by site FlatpanelsHD.
HDR10+ improves on HDR10 by using dynamic metadata for frame-by-frame adjustments, enhancing black levels and image quality. While Dolby Vision offers further advantages like 12-bit color, HDR10+ adoption is growing; Netflix added it in March, and Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV also support it. Unlike some rivals, Disney+ enables HDR streaming on its cheapest plan, even after recent price hikes last month.
This enhancement positions Disney+ competitively amid rising subscription costs and format scrutiny.
