This will cause punctual heavy rains, a marked temperature drop, and winds with gusts up to 100 kilometers per hour along the coasts of Tamaulipas, Veracruz, the Isthmus, and the Gulf of Tehuantepec. The associated polar air mass will trigger a strong 'Norte' event in those areas.
The frontal system will remain stationary over the Yucatán Peninsula until Wednesday, December 10, and will cease affecting national territory starting Thursday, December 11, though a new cold front is expected toward the end of the week. The lowest temperatures will occur in northern and central states: -10 to -5 degrees in Chihuahua and Durango; -5 to 0 degrees in Baja California, Sonora, Mexico State, Tlaxcala, and Puebla; and 0 to 5 degrees in Coahuila, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Veracruz, and Oaxaca.
The most intense frosts will occur during the early mornings of Monday, December 8, and Tuesday, December 9, with lows up to -10 degrees due to Cold Front 19. For Wednesday and Thursday, a slight thermal rise is forecast, with lows up to -5 degrees. December will see the highest number of cold fronts in the 2025-2026 winter season, with up to seven systems anticipated. Additionally, the 'La Niña' phenomenon will lead to a drier winter, potentially intensifying low temperatures in various regions. So far, no details are available on the effects of Cold Front 20, which will arrive in the last days of the week. Authorities recommend taking precautions against the cold in affected areas.
