Carabineros detained a 44-year-old man in a drunken state on Saturday for causing a multiple collision in San Joaquín and fleeing the scene. The accident left at least four people affected.
The incident occurred after 7:30 a.m. on Vicuña Mackenna Avenue with Capitán Prat Street. A pickup truck hit three cars stopped at a red light and the driver fled without offering help. Staff from the 50th San Joaquín Police Station found the vehicle abandoned on Maihue Street. The driver was later detained in the La Florida commune following inquiries by the Police Investigation Section. Major Óscar Llantén stated that the detainee has prior records for minor injuries, abuse and drunk driving. One of the affected individuals was taken to a medical center. All details were handed over to the Public Ministry.
