Edo governor commends high turnout in local government elections

Governor Monday Okpebholo praised voters for their strong participation in Edo State local government elections on Saturday. He noted the peaceful and orderly conduct of voting across the state. Accredited observers confirmed the smooth process at polling units.

Governor Monday Okpebholo cast his ballot at Ward 2, Udomi Primary School in Esan Central Local Government Area. He arrived at his polling unit around 10:24 a.m. and voted at 10:40 a.m.

Okpebholo said reports from across the state showed the election was progressing peacefully. “This election is very peaceful and it is going smoothly based on the feedback we are getting from the field,” he told journalists.

He highlighted the high turnout as a sign of grassroots democracy. “It shows that our people are interested in choosing those who will administer the affairs of their local governments,” the governor added. He urged residents to remain peaceful and await official results from the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission.
