Egypt and UNIDO review industrial partnership to accelerate green manufacturing

Egypt’s Industry Minister Khaled Hashem chaired a steering committee meeting with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to review progress on the Egypt Country Partnership Programme and discuss future industrial projects.

The meeting was attended by Patrick Jean Gilabert, UNIDO Regional Director in Egypt, along with other government officials and development partners. Participants reviewed the implementation status of the programme and its achievements in targeted industrial sectors.

Discussions covered the programme’s six main pillars including industrial policy and governance, investment promotion, green industry, smart cities, value chain development and adaptation to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Hashem stressed that the partnership supports the government’s efforts for substantial industrial transformation and helps create a more attractive investment environment. Gilabert noted that UNIDO’s current portfolio in Egypt is its largest globally with 23 projects funded by international partners.
