Egypt receives recognition for civil aviation sector growth

Egypt has gained international recognition for advances in its civil aviation sector after hosting the 38th IATA Ground Handling Conference in Cairo.

Egypt hosted the 38th IATA Ground Handling Conference from 19 to 21 May in Cairo. This marked the first time the country had hosted the event since 2009. IATA officials praised Egypt's aviation progress during the conference. Nick Careen, IATA’s Senior Vice President for Operations, Safety and Security, stated that demand for air travel in Egypt is expected to grow by 3.4% annually through 2050. Monika Mejstrikova, IATA’s Director of Ground Operations, highlighted the sector's resilience. She noted ongoing work to align ground handling services with international standards. The conference underscored Egypt's role as a regional aviation hub. It also reflected growing international confidence in the country's aviation infrastructure and capabilities.
