During the phone call on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, President Al-Sisi welcomed the signing of the Doha Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo's government and the Congo River Alliance/M23 movement. He also expressed Egypt's full support for the peace agreement signed in Washington earlier this month, describing it as a crucial step toward ending tensions and enhancing security and stability in the Great Lakes region.

Presidential spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that Al-Sisi affirmed Egypt's readiness to exert 'every possible effort' to support the dispute settlement path. For his part, President Tshisekedi expressed appreciation for Egypt's support of stability efforts in his country. Both leaders agreed on the necessity of intensifying efforts to overcome any obstacles that might hinder the implementation of the peace deals.

Regarding bilateral relations, Al-Sisi praised Tshisekedi's recent attendance at the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and expressed his desire to host the Congolese president soon for a bilateral visit. This offer comes amid Egypt's broader support for regional peace initiatives in Africa, focusing on stability in the continent's central and eastern regions.
