Emcali starts modernization of public lighting in Cali

Emcali presented a project to modernize 100% of Cali's public lighting with LED luminaires. The initiative involves over 186,000 luminaires and an investment of 450 billion pesos.

Emcali has begun the process to transform Cali's public lighting system. The project aims to modernize 101,037 existing luminaires and add an initial 3,945 more across urban and rural areas.

Execution is planned over 24 months and will include telegestion systems to monitor the LED luminaires. Between 2024 and 2025, Cali advanced modernization of 30% of its lighting stock.

Emcali requested preventive oversight from the Procuraduría General de la Nación, the Contraloría General de la República and the Personería Distrital. General manager Roger Mina stressed the value of institutional support.

The strategic partner will be chosen based on technical criteria such as experience and logistical capacity. Funding will come from public lighting tax revenues without incurring debt.
