The incident took place on November 4, 2025, during the band imposition ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand, as part of pre-Miss Universe 2025 activities. Nawat Itsaragrisil confronted Fátima Bosch for refusing to record a promotional video for Thailand, citing prior commitments. 'You were asked to make a video in the morning and you said no... I haven't given you a chance to speak,' the director said angrily, calling her 'foolish' and ordering security to remove her.
Bosch responded firmly: 'All delegates, as women, deserve respect. I'm here representing a country and it's not my fault you have issues with my organization.' Several contestants, including Colombia's Vanessa Pulgarín, Iraq's Hanin Al Qoreishy, and those from Palestine, Canada, Argentina, Venezuela, and Armenia, left the room in solidarity. Current Miss Universe 2024, Denmark's Victoria Kjær, also exited and posted on Instagram: 'Defending yourself is not always easy, but it's one of the most important acts of respect and strength... Our voices will be heard loud and clear, enough is enough'.
Hours later, Nawat Itsaragrisil apologized in a live stream: 'If anyone feels unwell... I apologize to everyone.' George Figueroa, director of Miss Universe Mexico, offered to withdraw Bosch, but she refused: 'No, I'm staying, I did nothing wrong... Today, to the world, I am Mexico.' The Miss Universe Organization sent its CEO, Mario Búcaro, to ensure a safe environment. Bosch reappeared in a video: 'Here I am, I'm not afraid to raise my voice... I came here to be a voice for all women.' The pageant continues, with the final on November 21 at Pak Kret's Impact Arena.
