Alberto Núñez Feijóo, PP leader, has revealed he spoke with Vox's Santiago Abascal after the Castilla y León regional elections to advance government negotiations in Extremadura, Aragón and Castilla y León. They agreed to keep meeting and for their teams to convene in Extremadura. Feijóo stresses they cannot disappoint voters.
Alberto Núñez Feijóo revealed in a Servimedia interview published on Saturday that he contacted Santiago Abascal after the March 15 elections in Castilla y León. The talk occurred ten days post-elections and led to a meeting in Mérida on March 25, attended by Miguel Tellado. They noted good rapport for investing María Guardiola in Extremadura.
Feijóo said both sides agreed their teams would meet soon in Extremadura. "We cannot disappoint people", the PP leader stated, highlighting voters' call for PP-led governments with Vox support in the three regions. It is not the first contact: they had a one-hour call after Aragón's February 8 elections.
The PP leader expressed optimism on deals, though Vox sets the pace and has accused Génova, as in a April 1 letter to its membership. Feijóo denies involvement: "I cannot defend myself against what I have not done". On Vox demands like Spanish priority in healthcare or ending the Green Deal, Feijóo clarified regional presidents cannot breach Spanish or EU laws.
The PP also opposes universal healthcare for irregular immigrants restored by the Government and warns mass regularization will strain public services.
