The 10th Food Africa exhibition opened in Cairo, featuring over 1,200 companies from 45 countries, as Egypt aims to boost high-value exports. Deputy Prime Minister Kamel Al-Wazir highlighted the food industry as one of 28 priority investment opportunities for deeper local manufacturing.
Cairo hosted the opening of the 10th Food Africa exhibition, one of the region's largest for agricultural and food industries. Over 1,200 companies from 45 countries participated, covering sectors such as agriculture, packaging, food machinery, and dates, attracting buyers from Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel Al-Wazir spoke at the inauguration, stating that the government has designated the food industry as one of 28 priority investment opportunities to deepen local manufacturing and boost high-value exports. He explained that the sector was chosen for its potential to deliver high added value, sustainable growth, and extensive job creation across the value chain from production to the final product.
Al-Wazir described the exhibition as a strategic tool to establish Egyptian leadership in African markets, connecting local exporters with international importers to open new trade opportunities and organize field visits to export-oriented farms and factories. During his tour of the venue, the minister visited pavilions from the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Russia, Germany, India, and Turkey.
The opening ceremony was attended by Hani Berzi, the exhibition's honorary president, and Ashraf El-Gazayerli, head of the Chamber of Food Industries, along with various ambassadors and representatives from export councils and the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
