Marta Herrera Seguel, a lawyer from the University of Chile with a Master of Laws from California Western School of Law, joins Codelco following a selection process to lead the ethics and compliance division. Her career highlights include heading the legal area and the specialized unit on economic crimes and corruption at the Public Ministry for over 20 years. She has also served as an academic at universities such as Adolfo Ibáñez and Universidad de Santiago de Chile, and as legal director of the National Institute of Industrial Property (Inapi).
In December 2022, President Gabriel Boric nominated her for National Prosecutor, but the Senate rejected the appointment with 26 votes in favor, 11 against, and nine abstentions. Now, at the state mining company, her role focuses on bolstering ethical standards in a vital entity for Chile's economy.
