Freedom Tree unveils nature-inspired decor collection for 2026

Mumbai-based Freedom Tree has launched its Spring Summer 2026 collection, Promise to the Planet, drawing inspiration from natural landscapes to bring glacial blues, savanna prints, and earthy hues into homes. Founded by Latika Khosla, the brand emphasizes democratic, optimistic design rooted in local culture. The collection highlights environmental themes through prints and textiles that celebrate endangered ecosystems.

Freedom Tree, an AD PRO Directory brand, introduced its Spring Summer 2026 collection titled Promise to the Planet on March 11, 2026. The Mumbai-based lifestyle brand, founded by Latika Khosla, evolved over the past fifteen years from a niche design studio into a homegrown favorite known for bold patterns and playful palettes.

The collection translates vast landscapes and fragile ecosystems into everyday objects, with water, air, earth, and sky as its conceptual backbone. It features painterly prints, expansive compositions, and tactile weaves that transform nature's scale into intimate home pieces.

The Reflected Sky and Water narrative draws from Pangong Lake and Himalayan glacial pools, incorporating mirrored mountain landscapes, fluid teal tones, pale blues, misty greys, and sun-washed neutrals. These designs evoke calm and atmospheric interiors, subtly referencing 1960s graphic abstraction.

The Terai chapter, inspired by the Terai Duar region's savanna grasslands and endangered wildlife, presents hand-painted prints of sweeping grasslands in a naïve studio style, balancing playfulness with ecological awareness.

Earth and Stone grounds the palette in ochres, terracotta, rust, and clay pinks, celebrating texture through layered weaves and earthy pigments that reflect Indian craft traditions.

Some prints extend to breezy apparel made from natural fabrics, with elements like glacial landscapes, endangered flowers, mossy meadows, and watery terrains woven using recycled yarns. Khosla described these as 'silent protest prints,' stating, “We want to take what we know is endangered, or what we want to bring attention to, and make it beautiful, joyously setting it in people’s homes.”

She added context on design philosophy: “In designing for today, we always look at long-term trends. The geopolitical situation has been uncertain for the last two years, and it has exploded even more now. While wars may consume us, we choose not to lose sight of what we really stand to lose: the excruciating beauty of the monumental planet.”

Freedom Tree operates stores in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Goa, and Pune, with an online presence. Its offerings include handcrafted furniture by skilled artisans, screen- or digitally printed textiles in small batches, hand-painted ceramics, apparel, and decor accents, all designed in-house and made in India. The brand also provides styling services blending Indian crafts with contemporary aesthetics.
