The Council of Ministers granted partial pardons on Tuesday to Laura Borràs, Juan Fernández Gutiérrez, Natalio Grueso and two private citizens.
The government of Pedro Sánchez commuted Laura Borràs's prison sentence from four years, six months and one day to two years, while keeping the 13-year disqualification and the 36,000 euro fine. The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia had proposed this measure, deeming the original sentence disproportionate.
In the case of Juan Fernández Gutiérrez, former mayor of Linares, the prison term was reduced from three to two years, although the seven-year disqualification for embezzling 125,377 euros in extra payments remains.
Natalio Grueso received a pardon of his eight-year prison sentence on humanitarian grounds related to his health, following a conviction for misappropriating funds from the Niemeyer Foundation. Two individuals convicted of public health offenses also had their sentences reduced to two years.
