Guest stars prepare for 'In the Valley of Death' at Karl May Games

The guest stars for the Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg made a strong impression in costumes. Florian Fitz, Isabel Varell, and Heinrich Schafmeister appeared as Roulin, Senorita Miranda, and Sir John Raffley, demonstrating their roles at a preview. The premiere of 'In the Valley of Death' is set for June 27.

At the Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg, the guest stars for the play 'In the Valley of Death' were introduced. Florian Fitz takes on the role of the villain Roulin, a ruthless businessman who appears charming and cold-blooded. Isabel Varell plays the fiery Mexican Senorita Miranda with a radiant smile. Heinrich Schafmeister embodies Sir John Raffley, an eccentric greenhorn making his debut at Kalkberg.

Greeted by Ute Thienel, managing director of Kalkberg GmbH, Fitz expressed his excitement: 'to be part of this big spectacle.' He received a Colt and joked: 'You don't need to be afraid. I only shoot at the good guys!' Varell, who learned to ride specifically, said: 'I think I was in the Wild West in one of my past lives.' She will dance and sing in the play and was given a tambourine. Schafmeister, also a newcomer, called it a 'double premiere,' as his character Raffley from Karl May's stories usually operates in Asia but is now brought to America by author Michael Stamp. The play is set in Mexico.

An entrance gag featured Schafmeister stumbling behind a carriage and calling: 'Halt, halt, you've forgotten someone!' Illustrator Samson Goetze praised Fitz's 'James Bond villain face' and Varell's smile for his poster design.

The casting for Old Firehand, Winnetou's companion, remains open. Previous actors included Reiner Schöne (2002) and Ralf Bauer (2015). Press spokesman Stamp announced: 'The rest of the cast will be revealed around Easter.' Winnetou is played by Alexander Klaws. The premiere is on Saturday, June 27, at 8:30 p.m., with performances until September 6 on Thursdays to Saturdays at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m.
