Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch explained the reasons why Mexico handed over Mauro Alberto Núñez Ojeda, known as 'El Jando', to the United States.
García Harfuch stated that authorities expel individuals who generate violence in Mexico. He noted that these people caused greater harm inside the country than abroad.
The official detailed that many extradition processes were delayed for years due to corruption in prisons and courts. From behind bars, the detainees continued committing crimes such as homicides and extortion.
Núñez Ojeda, close to Iván Archivaldo Guzmán of Los Chapitos, operated aircraft for the Sinaloa Cartel between 2014 and 2025. The Attorney General's Office will report on the specific case.
