Heatwave draws more tourists to Dalarna

A heatwave in Europe has led to more foreign visitors in Dalarna. Camping chain First Camp reports large increases from several countries.

Several European countries have experienced high temperatures this summer. At the same time Dalarna has attracted more tourists seeking cooler conditions.

German visitor Beate Goetz, camping in Mora, said it was very hot at home and that she was glad to be able to travel.

First Camp has seen a clear increase in guests during weeks 26 to 32 compared with the same period in 2025. Austria rose by 129 percent, Switzerland by 46 percent and Germany by 12 percent.

Visit Dalarna CEO Johanna Hemming noted that several facilities have observed the trend but that it is too early to speak of a boom. She stressed the importance of handling increased tourism carefully to protect the environment.
