Heavy rains ease in Pune as market supplies face disruptions

Heavy rainfall continued in Pune on Tuesday with lighter showers forecast from Wednesday, while supply disruptions at Gultekdi Market have caused swings in vegetable and fruit prices.

Shivajinagar recorded 97.5 mm of rain in 24 hours on Tuesday, down from 108.4 mm the previous day. Between July 1 and July 7, the station logged 301.1 mm, exceeding full-month July totals from most prior years.

Heavy rain and landslides closed the Mumbai-Pune Expressway’s Missing Link corridor for more than 18 hours on Monday. At Gultekdi Market, wholesale prices of leafy vegetables such as coriander and spinach have risen, while fruit rates including pomegranate and mangoes have fallen.
