Iceage announce new album For Love of Grace & the Hereafter

Danish punk band Iceage have revealed their first album since 2021, set for release on May 29 via Mexican Summer. The announcement coincides with a music video for the new single “Ember.” Frontman Elias Rønnenfelt described the songs as immediate, urgent, raw, and fast.

Iceage unveiled details of their upcoming album, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter, on April 7. The record, their follow-up to 2021’s Seek Shelter, arrives next month through Mexican Summer. Alongside the news, the band shared a video for “Ember,” the second single after last month’s “Star.” Directed by the group and Elias Rønnenfelt’s sister Ira, the clip features dirt-biking, graffiti, kite-flying, plush toys, smoke flares, and encounters with sheep, as first reported by Pitchfork. The album was recorded in 2025 at Silence Studio in rural Sweden, the same location used for their 2014 release Plowing Into the Field of Love. Longtime collaborator Nis Bysted handled mixing and production. In a press statement, Rønnenfelt explained, “The songs needed to be immediate, urgent, raw, and fast. We wanted to try to shed any unnecessary weight. Catching outlets of energy is what excites us the most.” Since Seek Shelter, Rønnenfelt has released solo albums Heavy Glory in 2024 and Speak Daggers in 2025. The new LP’s tracklist includes “Ember,” “Match Head Girl,” “The Weak,” “No Fear,” “Salve for Every Sore,” “mother-of-pearl,” “Tender Blades,” “1835,” “Star,” “Lifetime,” “Holy Water,” and “True Blue.”
