Idilio closes US$5 million seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz

Colombian microdramas platform Idilio announced the closure of a US$5 million seed round. The investment was led by Andreessen Horowitz through Speedrun. The funds will support content production, hires and user acquisition.

The funding included participation from Goodwater Capital, WndrCo founded by Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Vélez personally. Other investors include Precursor Ventures, FoundersX Ventures, Accelerator Ventures, Blitzscaling Ventures, Moai Capital and NuMundo Ventures. The announcement took place during the Vertical Video Summit in Los Angeles. Idilio was founded by Gabriela Tafur and Esteban Ramírez. The app has accumulated more than 1.5 million downloads in over 120 countries and exceeds 50 million episodes played. Users spend an average of 45 minutes daily on the platform. The company will use part of the resources on artificial intelligence tools to accelerate story production. Its main focus remains the Spanish-speaking market with a potential audience exceeding 500 million people.
