INE Commission approves four new parties ahead of 2027

The INE's Commission of Prerogatives and Political Parties approved the registration of four organizations as national parties on June 24. If the General Council ratifies it, they will operate from July 1 and compete in the 2027 elections.

The approved organizations are Construyendo Sociedades de Paz, México Tiene Vida, Personas Sumando en 2025 and Que Siga la Democracia. They met requirements including district assemblies, over 256,000 affiliations and other provisions of the General Law of Political Parties.

Hugo Eric Flores leads Construyendo Sociedades de Paz. Jaime Ochoa Hernández heads México Tiene Vida. Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo directs Personas Sumando en 2025, which seeks registration as Somos México. Edgar Garza Ancira presides over Que Siga la Democracia.

The next step is a decision by the INE General Council. One source mentioned an unconfirmed allegation against México Tiene Vida of bribing an official.

If registered, the new parties must obtain at least 3 percent of the national vote in 2027 to retain their status.
