The All India Inter-University Winter Games 2025–26, hosted by the Central University of Kashmir, wrapped up in Gulmarg with competitions in Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, and Ski Mountaineering. Athletes from universities across India competed in challenging snowy conditions, showcasing skill and endurance. Champions were crowned in various men's and women's events during the closing ceremony.
The event, organized under the auspices of the Association of Indian Universities, took place in Gulmarg and featured participation from multiple institutions nationwide. Competitors tackled events such as Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Parallel Slalom in Alpine Skiing; Slalom and Giant Slalom in Snowboarding; and Sprint in Ski Mountaineering.
In men's Alpine Skiing, Faizan Ahmad Lone from Guru Kashi University, Punjab, secured gold in all three events, while Zubair Ahmad Mir from the University of Kashmir won three silvers. Imran Manzoor Lone, also from the University of Kashmir, earned bronzes in Slalom and Giant Slalom, and Mustafa Rahim from the Central University of Kashmir took bronze in Parallel Slalom.
Women's Alpine Skiing saw Shah Parihaan Peerzada from the University of Kashmir claim gold in Slalom and Giant Slalom, along with silver in Parallel Slalom. Misbha Maqbool from the same university won gold in Parallel Slalom and silver in Giant Slalom, while Huzaima Hanief from the Central University of Kashmir secured silver in Slalom and bronzes in the other two events. Seerat Farooq from the Central University of Kashmir earned bronze in Slalom.
For men's Snowboarding, Vakar Ahmad Lone from RIMT University, Punjab, took two golds, with Asif Shabir from the University of Kashmir winning two silvers and Balvir Singh from the University of Kashmir claiming two bronzes.
In women's Snowboarding, Prakriti Thakur from Chandigarh University, Punjab, dominated with two golds, followed by Sehar Rashid and Saima Jan from the Central University of Kashmir with two silvers and two bronzes, respectively.
Men's Ski Mountaineering results included gold for Shardul Thapliya from Graphic Era University, Dehradun; silver for Umar Bashir from the University of Kashmir; and bronze for Ayush Bhatt from Uttaranchal University, Dehradun.
Women's Ski Mountaineering featured gold and silver for Shah Parihaan Peerzada and Misbha Maqbool from the University of Kashmir, respectively, with bronze going to Huzaima Hanief from the Central University of Kashmir.
The closing ceremony included AIU Observer Dr. Rina Poonia, University of Kashmir Director Sports Dr. Surjeet Bali, Assistant Director Mr. Tausif Bhat, and other sports officials. Dr. Kaukab Azeem served as Organizing Secretary, with Dr. Mohammad Muzamil Shah as Joint Organizing Secretary.
