Investigation into human exploitation in Lysekil closed

The investigation into suspected human exploitation at several companies in an industrial area in Lysekil is being closed, reports P4 Väst. Suspicions arose after a September inspection where 36 people lacked work permits. Part of the probe into violations of the Aliens Act continues against the companies.

According to P4 Väst, the investigation into human exploitation is being closed in an industrial area in Lysekil. Suspicions emerged at the end of September during an inspection where 36 people working in the area were found to lack valid work permits.

Mattias Eklöf, section chief at the border police in region Väst, explains that initial reports suggested lower wages for the employees. "Initialt så fick vi uppgifter som tydde på det, det handlade om att de hade lägre lön. Men det visade sig att vi kunde inte styrka det så den delen är nedlagd", he tells P4.

Despite the closure of the exploitation aspect, the probe into violations of the Aliens Act continues against several companies, both Swedish and foreign, in the area. The inspection highlighted permit issues, but evidence for exploitation was insufficient to proceed with that part of the case.
