Iyanla Vanzant returns to OWN with new healing series

Iyanla Vanzant is making a comeback to the OWN network after a few years away, launching a new series titled “Iyanla: The Inside Fix.” The show revisits twelve guests from her previous program to explore ongoing personal growth and spiritual practices. The first episode airs on January 17.

Iyanla Vanzant, the 72-year-old life coach, author, and television personality, previously led the series “Iyanla: Fix My Life” on OWN from 2012 to 2021. That program ran for 10 seasons and 136 episodes, with each concluding by updating viewers on the guests' progress after their sessions with Vanzant.

The new series, “Iyanla: The Inside Fix,” shifts focus inward by reuniting with twelve individuals from the original show. In a statement, Vanzant explained the premise: “There comes a moment when fixing the outside is no longer enough. This is the moment where the noise fades, the demands disappear, the people disappear, and the only work left is the work within. This is where healing becomes holy. This is where truth finds its home. This… is The Inside Fix.”

OWN's press release elaborated on the content: “‘The Inside Fix’ will uncover new truths, explore fresh takeaways from these powerful stories, and, most importantly, carve out new practices for good 'spiritual hygiene' in the pursuit of a renewed sense of self and being. The new series promises to show that the deep work of becoming our best self is never truly finished.”

Vanzant reflected on the evolution of her work, noting the world's changes since 2012. “Time has shifted me. Time has shifted us all,” she said. Yet, the core need for healing persists. In the trailer, she declares, “Let the healing begin,” while revisiting memorable moments like the “Not on my watch” interaction from the original series.

She described her approach: “I am revisiting the stories, the teachings and the wisdom of ‘Fix My Life’ to recapture and share the lessons with new eyes. To examine the insights with greater clarity and to offer guidance and practices that will help us all do our work for the times we are living in today.”

The premiere is scheduled for Saturday, January 17, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with a trailer offering glimpses into the revisited cases.
