Jack Campbell retires after NHL career with four teams

Former NHL goaltender Jack Campbell has announced the end of his professional hockey career at age 34. The decision was shared by the player himself in an Instagram video posted this week.

Campbell played eight seasons in the NHL, appearing for the Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers. He was selected for the 2022 NHL All-Star Game.

The player reflected on both the highs and lows of his career. “I grew up with a dream, and that was to play in the NHL. I was lucky to fulfill that dream,” Campbell said. He also noted personal struggles that were not always visible to fans.

Campbell did not play during the most recent season. His final games came in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2024/25. He now describes himself as a former NHL goaltender and an identity and performance coach.
