Joaquín Niemann took the lead at the Italian Open in Turin with a two-stroke advantage after the second round.
The Chilean golfer completed a round of 63 on Friday to reach a total of 127 strokes and move to the top of the DP World Tour leaderboard.
Niemann leads Spaniard Ángel Ayora by two strokes. He had led after Thursday’s first round but lost the position to Italian Edoardo Molinari before reclaiming it with his Friday performance.
The Talagante player described a slow start followed by consecutive birdies on holes 16, 17 and 18 plus an eagle on the first. He praised his control of fairways and irons on the Circolo Golf course in Turin.
Matt Wallace set the course record with 62 strokes during the same round.
