Jon Rahm feels at home ahead of his tenth Masters at Augusta

Spanish golfer Jon Rahm has said he feels calm and at home at Augusta National ahead of his tenth Masters appearance, starting Thursday. He trained with José María Olazábal and Sergio García, recalling Spain's legacy of six green jackets. He arrives in strong form from LIV Golf results and is optimistic about DP World Tour negotiations.

Jon Rahm, José María Olazábal and Sergio García practiced nine holes at Augusta hours before the champions' dinner. The trio embodies Spain's succession in the Masters: Olazábal won in 1994 and 1999, García in 2017 and Rahm in 2023, totaling six victories for Spain behind only the United States.

Olazábal, in his 37th appearance at age 60, hopes to make the cut. García, 46 and inconsistent on LIV, appeared doubtful. Rahm, 31, seeks a second green jacket after five top 10s in nine starts, averaging 71 strokes per round and under par in 19 of 36 rounds.

"No sé si diría paz, but I do feel here a certain tranquility that I didn't have before being champion, a sense that I return home", Rahm told EL PAÍS. His recent LIV form stands out: second, second, first, fifth and second in five events, with a Hong Kong win ending a 539-day drought. He has 20 top 5s and 29 top 10s in 30 starts.

In majors since joining LIV, he finished seventh at the 2024 Open Championship, eighth at the 2025 PGA and seventh at the 2025 US Open. Optimistic on DP World Tour talks, he dropped his fines lawsuit and expects a deal for four minimum events and Ryder Cup eligibility. "I have the positivity that it will be fixed. I'm sure I'll play the next Ryder", he said.

Rahm tees off Thursday at 19:08 Spanish time with Chris Gotterup and Ludvig Åberg.

Jon Rahm secured his third LIV Golf victory of the season with a dominant performance at the HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong, finishing at 23 under par. The Spaniard ended a 539-day winless streak with a final-round 64, beating Thomas Detry by three strokes. Meanwhile, Dustin Johnson's 4Aces GC claimed the team title, their first in 974 days.

Jon Rahm, a pre-tournament favorite at the 2026 Masters, finished with questions about his form after a disappointing week at Augusta National. Despite a strong Sunday round, early miscues left him far from contention. Rahm acknowledged the need for adjustments ahead of the PGA Championship.

Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, LIV Golf's leading figures, are in strong form heading into the Masters. DeChambeau leads the LIV South Africa event by two shots with Rahm three back. Both players draw parallels to past peak performances ahead of the major.

Rory McIlroy and Sam Burns share the first-round lead at five under par following Thursday's play at Augusta National. Patrick Reed sits at three under, while Xander Schauffele and Scottie Scheffler are at two under. Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm faltered with four over and six over scores, respectively.

Rory McIlroy tees off in the first round of The Masters 2026 at 10.31am local time alongside Cameron Young and US Amateur champion Mason Howell. The world No 2 defends his title after last year's play-off win over Justin Rose, which completed his career Grand Slam. World No 1 Scottie Scheffler starts later with Robert MacIntyre and Gary Woodland.

Rory McIlroy shot a one-over 73 in the third round of the 2026 Masters, squandering his record six-shot lead after 36 holes and dropping into a tie for the lead with Cameron Young at 11-under par. Sam Burns sits one stroke back at 10-under, with Shane Lowry at nine-under. The pair will enter Sunday's final round with the green jacket on the line at Augusta National.

Rory McIlroy surged to a six-shot lead at the 2026 Masters after rounds of 67 and 65, but the cut claimed several prominent golfers at Augusta National. Bryson DeChambeau, a pre-tournament favorite, posted 76-74 for 6 over par and exited early due to late collapses. Other surprises include recent winners and major contenders who faltered.
