Las Palmas Atlético loses 1-2 to Fuenlabrada
Las Palmas Atlético added another home defeat, losing 1-2 to Fuenlabrada in a match where the visitors mounted a comeback in the second half. Elías put the Gran Canarian reserve team ahead, but Sarmiento and Santisteban turned the score around. The home side could not equalize despite late efforts.
Las Palmas Atlético continues without finding its best form after falling again at the Anexo del Estadio de Gran Canaria to CF Fuenlabrada, with a final score of 1-2. The match, played on a sunny morning with about 700 spectators and on artificial turf in poor condition, saw the Gran Canarian reserve team dominate the first half-hour.
From kickoff, the home side was more active in attack, creating chances against a rival limited to defending. In the 17th minute, Iván Medina served into space for Elías Romero, who broke down the right flank, entered the area, and scored the 1-0 with a low shot. After the goal, the pace dropped, and Fuenlabrada equalized on their first clear chance, in the 33rd minute, when Nates assisted from the byline and Sarmiento headed into the net for 1-1.
After halftime, the teams leveled out, but in the 55th minute, from a corner, Santisteban headed free at the far post to make it 1-2. Raúl Martín made substitutions to chase the equalizer, including Sergio Viera, Johan Guedes, and Ian Martínez, but Fuenlabrada retreated and defended solidly. Edu Llorente had a counter to extend the lead, but his shot went high.
In the final minutes, Las Palmas Atlético pushed forward, and a cross from Iván Medina was deflected by a defender, sparking controversy over a possible handball that referee Alberto Sevillano Marín did not penalize. The score remained unchanged, leaving the reserve team pointless.
