Les Ormes resort to become Jersey's largest padel centre

Les Ormes Resort in Jersey is expanding its padel facilities with a £200,000 investment, including £75,000 from a Jersey Business grant. The project will add new courts to the existing setup, which already attracts around 1,000 players weekly. This development aims to create a dedicated padel and wellness hub at the resort.

Les Ormes Resort opened its padel facility in May last year and has since become one of Jersey's busiest sporting venues. The centre welcomes an average of 1,000 players each week, with participation rising during school holidays. Demand comes from the resort's Junior and Teen Padel Academy, coaching sessions, social play, and tournaments.

The expansion will add three new double courts and one single court to the left-hand side of the sports building. This complements the four panoramic double courts already in operation. The £200,000 investment includes £75,000 supported by the Better Business Grant from Jersey Business.

Sports and Leisure Manager Steve Dunford stated: “This new grant will enable Les Ormes to become the largest padel centre in Jersey. Transforming the building into a dedicated padel and wellness hub has brought an entirely new demographic to the site, which also helps generate wider support for the Bosdet Foundation and its work with children across the island.”

The padel project is part of a broader plan to develop a leisure hub for islanders and holidaymakers. A new wellness studio has opened above the facility, offering classes in Pilates, aerial yoga, and sound bath sessions. The resort gym has been refurbished with expanded training space and new high-tech equipment. Membership options for locals are expected to be announced soon.

Jersey Business chief executive Paul Murphy commented: “When businesses such as Les Ormes expand, the benefits are felt across the wider economy – from employment and skills to visitor experience and long-term resilience.”

Padel, a fast-growing racket sport, appeals to players of all abilities due to its accessible format and social nature. The Les Ormes facility has also gained popularity for corporate events and birthday celebrations.
