Lily Collins, known for her role in Emily in Paris, has been cast to portray Audrey Hepburn in an upcoming film about the making of the 1961 classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The project, based on Sam Wasson’s bestselling book, explores the production’s behind-the-scenes story. Collins announced the news on Instagram, expressing her long-held admiration for the icon.
Lily Collins, the 36-year-old actress and daughter of musician Phil Collins, will play Audrey Hepburn in an untitled film centered on the creation of the 1961 romantic comedy Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The movie adapts Sam Wasson’s book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman, providing an immersive account of the late 1950s America and the film’s impact on fashion, film, and culture.
Announced on February 23, 2026, the project has been in development for nearly a decade. Collins shared her excitement on Instagram: “It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able to share this. Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel.” She posted alongside an image of Hepburn as Holly Golightly in the original film.
The script is by Alena Smith, creator of the Apple TV+ series Dickinson, and Collins will also serve as a producer. The story covers key production elements, including casting controversies—such as author Truman Capote’s preference for Marilyn Monroe in the lead role—and contributions from director Blake Edwards, composer Henry Mancini, and costume designer Edith Head.
