LIV Golf announces return to New York for 2026 season

LIV Golf has confirmed its return to the New York market with an event at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in August 2026. The tournament marks the league's third visit to the venue and features a field of top players including 13 major champions. Tickets go on sale January 27.

LIV Golf, the global golf league, announced on January 23, 2026, that it will host LIV Golf New York from August 6-9 at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster. This event represents the league's third time at Bedminster and the first since the 2023 season, when Ripper GC captain Cameron Smith won the individual title and his team secured a clean sweep with a 20-under score, beating the field by 11 strokes.

"As we prepare for our biggest season yet, LIV Golf is excited to return to Trump National Bedminster and the bold, championship-caliber test it presents for our players," said Ross Hallett, LIV Golf Executive Vice President, Head of Events. "Following two successful events in 2022 and 2023, we are thrilled to showcase elite golf, family focused activities, an immersive fan environment, and premium hospitality that has become synonymous with the LIV Golf experience."

The 2026 field will include 57 players, among them 13 major champions with 23 major titles combined. Defending individual champion Cameron Smith returns, alongside stars like Joaquin Niemann, Tyrrell Hatton, Bryson DeChambeau of Crushers GC, Jon Rahm of Legion XIII, Bubba Watson of RangeGoats GC, Phil Mickelson of HyFlyers GC, Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed of 4Aces GC, and Sergio Garcia of Fireballs GC.

LIV Golf New York is the fifth confirmed U.S. event in a 14-event global schedule, which includes stops in Riyadh, Adelaide, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Mexico City, Virginia, Andalucía, Louisiana, the United Kingdom, Indianapolis, and Michigan, with one more venue to be announced. Premium hospitality tickets and general admission grounds passes go on sale January 27 at LIVGolf.com, offering world-class golf, live music, and family-friendly experiences.

The fifth season of LIV Golf kicks off this week at Riyadh Golf Club, Saudi Arabia, amid significant player movements and a controversial format change to 72 holes starting in 2026. Patrick Reed and Brooks Koepka have departed for the PGA Tour, while stars like Bryson DeChambeau express mixed feelings about the league's evolution. Absences of Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood due to personal reasons add to the pre-event buzz.

LIV Golf revealed significant changes to its 2026 season format on January 28, including a switch to 72-hole events and enhanced team incentives, while also unveiling a new partnership with Rolex for premium hospitality. These announcements highlight the league's focus on competitive integrity and global expansion. The season will begin in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from February 4-7.

LIV Golf has announced a collaboration with The R&A Sustainable Agronomy Service and the USGA Green Section to enhance course conditions for its 2026 season. The partnership aims to implement a unified framework across 14 events in 10 countries. This move seeks to ensure championship-level playing environments while prioritizing environmental responsibility.

Patrick Reed has left LIV Golf after failing to agree on a contract extension, announcing his intention to return to the PGA Tour in late 2026. The 2018 Masters champion cited family reasons and his traditionalist roots in the decision. Patrick Reed, the 2018 Masters champion, announced on January 28, 2026, that he is departing LIV Golf after four seasons to rejoin the PGA Tour. He plans to compete full-time on the DP World Tour this year before becoming eligible for PGA Tour events as a non-member starting August 25, 2026. Reed will reinstate his membership for the 2027 season as a past champion.

Laurie Canter has returned to LIV Golf for the 2026 season with Majesticks GC, turning down a PGA Tour card he earned through the DP World Tour. The DP World Tour has granted conditional releases to eight members playing on LIV Golf, allowing them to compete in conflicting events in 2026 without further sanctions. Jon Rahm, a two-time major winner, was not included in the list after refusing to pay outstanding fines. The decision could affect his eligibility for the 2027 Ryder Cup.
