Mamata Banerjee demands Shah's resignation over Kashmir, Delhi terror attacks

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of failing to prevent terror attacks in the country. Rebutting Shah's charges against her TMC government for abetting infiltration, she questioned why West Bengal is always blamed when attacks have occurred in Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi. Addressing a public meeting, Banerjee referred to Shah as 'Dushasan'.

Hours after Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the TMC government in West Bengal of abetting infiltration, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee demanded his resignation for failing to curb terror attacks across the country. She stated, 'You must resign. You are the Home Minister of the country; you should resign.' Referring to Shah as 'Dushasan,' Banerjee questioned why West Bengal is singled out for infiltration when attacks have occurred in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam and Delhi.

Speaking at a public meeting in Barjora, Bankura district, Banerjee remarked, 'They say there are infiltrators only in Bengal and nowhere else. If that is so, then who carried out the attacks in Pahalgam and Delhi? Did you do Pahalgam?' She rebutted Shah's claim that her government was not providing land for border fencing, asserting that land has been given in areas like Bongaon, Petrapole, Ghojadanga, and Changrabandha. Additionally, land was provided for airports in Andal and Panagarh.

Banerjee asserted that the BJP would face political rejection. She said, 'You are saying you will win with a two-thirds majority. This time you are not saying, “ab ki baar, 200 paar.” I want to say, this time you should be out of the country.' She claimed her party would return to power in West Bengal and challenge the BJP nationally through democratic means.

Meanwhile, TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee accused Shah of doublespeak on infiltration. Citing recent comments by BJP MPs Ananta Maharaj and Jagannath Sarkar that contradicted Shah's statements on border security, he noted no disciplinary action has been taken against them. Ananta Maharaj called Shah 'the most prominent infiltrator of this country,' while Jagannath Sarkar said borders with Bangladesh would be obliterated if BJP comes to power. Abhishek urged, 'Let Shah speak to his MPs and MLAs first and then come here and say such things.'
