Argentine President Javier Milei left for São Paulo on July 24 to attend the Liberal Party convention and support Senator Flávio Bolsonaro’s candidacy, accompanied by his sister Karina and Chancellor Pablo Quirno.
Milei departed Aeroparque on the night of July 24. His schedule includes a meeting with Governor Tarcísio de Freitas at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes, where he will receive the Ordem de Ipiranga, followed by a speech at the party convention where Flávio Bolsonaro is set to be proclaimed candidate. Unlike earlier plans, the trip does not include a stop in Brasília or meetings with the Lula government.
This follows Milei’s July 10 announcement of the visit, which had mentioned greeting former President Jair Bolsonaro. Brazil’s government has expressed concern over Milei’s support for Bolsonarismo but has prioritized maintaining bilateral commercial ties.
