The MX Linux 25 distribution, codenamed Infinity, has been released based on Debian 13 Trixie. It includes updated kernels, new tools, and enhancements across its Xfce, KDE Plasma, and Fluxbox editions. Users can now download the stable version featuring improved hardware support and installer options.
MX Linux 25, codenamed Infinity, became available for download on November 9, 2025, built on the Debian 13 “Trixie” stable series. This release incorporates the Linux 6.12 LTS kernel for standard editions, while the KDE Plasma edition and Xfce-based Advanced Hardware Support (AHS) edition use a Liquorix-flavored Linux 6.16 kernel. Both systemd and SysVinit flavors are offered for Xfce and Fluxbox editions.
Key highlights include support for Debian’s new deb822 format for managing sources, a Qt 6 port of the MX Tools application, and a new mx-updater tool replacing the apt-notifier package updater. The KDE Plasma edition defaults to Wayland. The installer has been updated with a function to “replace” existing Linux installations and support for 64-bit UEFI Secure Boot. Systemd-based ISOs now include systemd-cryptsetup for better encrypted /home partition support.
Additional changes encompass new Conky configurations with a default setup allowing 12h or 24h time formats based on locale, and updates to mx-ease and mx-matcha themes. In the Xfce edition, the Whisker Menu has been improved with the new settings format. The KDE Plasma edition adds root actions and service menus for Dolphin, replacing TLP with power-profiles-daemon to resolve power profile widget issues. Fluxbox gains new configuration options, a revised panel, root-level menus, revamped Rofi appfinder, toolbar adjustments, style updates, and Audacious as the default audio player over DeaDBeeF.
The Nvidia-installer (ddm-mx) features a fallback mode for the NVIDIA developer repository and enhanced Wayland compatibility. The mx-updater utility now ensures “automatic” updates function as expected. MX Linux 25 is downloadable in Xfce 4.20, KDE Plasma 6.3.6, and Fluxbox 1.3.7 editions from the official website.
