The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test undergraduate re-examination took place on Sunday across thousands of centres in India following the cancellation of the original May 3 test due to a paper leak. Students reported mixed experiences with the paper while noting stricter security measures. Over 22 lakh candidates appeared for the test nationwide.
The re-test was held from 2 pm to 5.15 pm with the National Testing Agency extending the window by 15 minutes. It took place at 5,440 centres in 551 cities. In Delhi the exam occurred at 97 centres and in Tamil Nadu at 307 centres.
Candidates faced multiple security checks including biometric verification and frisking. In Ahmedabad drones monitored centres and messaging apps were scrutinised. Rajasthan deployed flying squads and closed photostat shops near exam sites.
Students described the paper as moderate to slightly tougher with physics sections proving challenging for some. Many expressed relief at completing the process amid ongoing stress from the earlier cancellation. A parent in Mumbai noted the presence of police personnel at the centre.
Some candidates in Chennai and Delhi voiced concerns that the delay could affect admission timelines and alternative plans. Officials reported no major incidents during the examination.
