GM Ian Nepomniachtchi claimed victory in the June 19 Freestyle Friday tournament on Chess.com. He finished with nine points after winning six games in a row.
Nepomniachtchi secured outright first place with a final-round draw against GM Sina Movahed. IM Reza Mahdavi took second on 8.5 points after checkmating GM Parham Maghsoodloo in 31 moves.
GM Nodirbek Yakubboev finished third on the same score, separated by tiebreaks. GM Amin Tabatabaei placed fourth with eight points after winning his last four games.
IM Meri Arabidze won the women's prize. The event awarded $400 to first place, $250 to second, $150 to third, and $100 each to fourth and the women's winner.
GM Oleksandr Bortnyk and GM Pranav Venkatesh, competing for spots in the 2027 Freestyle Chess World Championship, finished outside the top 10. The next Freestyle Friday takes place on June 26.
