Netflix acquires Danny Boyle's Ink for U.S. and Latin America

Netflix has acquired U.S. and Latin American distribution rights to Danny Boyle's thriller Ink. The deal comes ahead of the film's world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.

The film will open the 83rd Venice Film Festival on September 2. It stars Guy Pearce as Rupert Murdoch, with Jack O'Connell and Claire Foy in key roles.

Ink is based on a Tony-nominated play by James Graham, who also wrote the screenplay. The story follows the 1969 launch of The Sun newspaper by Murdoch and tabloid editor Larry Lamb.

StudioCanal produced the film with Media Res and House Productions. The company will release Ink theatrically in the UK, France, Germany and other territories. WME Independent negotiated the Netflix deal.
