North Carolina mother faces manslaughter charges after fatal crash

Megan Symone Scott, 31, has been charged with three counts of involuntary manslaughter after a high-speed crash that killed her three young sons in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The incident began on June 3 as a domestic dispute in the 100 block of S. Eastern Boulevard. Scott allegedly bit her boyfriend during an argument and drove toward him before officers later stopped her vehicle.

Scott fled the traffic stop, striking two officers who sustained minor injuries, and reached speeds of 111 mph with her sons Jae'Coda Thomas, 3, Ju'Mari Thomas, 6, and Jack Thomas, 8, unsecured in the car. She crossed the centerline on State Road 53, overcorrected, and crashed into a tree.

Two of the children were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third was airlifted to a hospital and later died. None of the boys were wearing seat belts or secured in car seats. Scott was ejected from the vehicle and remains in the Cumberland County Jail without bond. Her next court date is set for July 7.

The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral costs, stating the pain and grief are unimaginable.
