Paley Center unveils Survivor exhibit in New York City

The Paley Center for Media in New York City has opened an exhibit celebrating 25 years and 50 seasons of the reality show Survivor. Featuring original props like immunity idols and a miniature Tribal Council, the display coincides with the launch of Survivor 50. Cast members shared emotional reactions during a preview event.

The Paley Center for Media launched the exhibit "Outwit, Outplay, Outlast: Celebrating 50 Seasons of Survivor" to mark the show's 25-year history. Located at The Paley Museum on 25 W. 52nd St., it runs through May 31. Visitors can view artifacts from all 50 seasons, including torch snuffers, tribe flags, immunity idols, necklaces, and a real Survivor torch for photos. A miniature version of Tribal Council allows fans to sit in and experience key elements of the game.

Curator Jason Lynch explained that the exhibit took a year to develop, initially planned for the 25th anniversary but adjusted to support the premiere of Survivor 50 on February 25 at 8/7c on CBS. "If you're a fan, we want you to feel like you're taking something away and learning something," Lynch told TVLine. "What are the key elements of Survivor? There's Tribal Council. There's your torch getting snuffed. There's the immunity idols. We wanted to make sure all of those key elements were in here. It is literally the closest you can get to the show without being on it."

Some items are autographed by host Jeff Probst, White Lotus creator Mike White, and various cast members. During a preview, Survivor 45 winner Dee Valladares described the space as feeling like Fiji and highlighted touching a challenge prop. "'Survivor' really did change my life, and I know we all say it, but it's just so true," she said.

Rick Devens called it "absolutely incredible," noting tension upon seeing the Tribal Council setup and fire-making challenge. Jenna Lewis Dougherty, from the first season and returning for Survivor 50, felt a mix of nostalgia and anxiety. She recalled the early days, pointing to an original snuffer made from half a coconut, and expressed gratitude for being part of the show's legacy from the start to season 50.
