A Pennsylvania man faces homicide charges after allegedly striking his ex-wife's boyfriend with a pickup truck following a heated online exchange.
Ryan Thompson, 47, was arrested and charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault by vehicle, homicide by vehicle, recklessly endangering another person, and reckless driving. The charges stem from the death of 53-year-old Roy Holliday, who was hit while riding his motorcycle on Lowber Road in Sewickley Township on July 16.
Pennsylvania State Police responded to the crash scene and found Holliday with a head injury. He was taken to a hospital that evening and died the following day. Surveillance video showed a pickup truck following the motorcycle closely before striking it from behind.
According to court documents, Thompson's ex-wife contacted police after the crash. She reported that Thompson had called her earlier that day and later told her to take care of their son and dog. Phone records placed both men at the scene, and investigators found a heated Facebook Messenger exchange between them. Thompson was located at his home with the damaged truck in the driveway.
Thompson told police he thought he heard Holliday revving his motorcycle outside his home. He is being held without bail at the Westmoreland County Jail. His next court date is scheduled for July 27.
