PM Modi labels Congress political vultures amid global crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated development projects worth Rs 19,800 crore in Gujarat's Vav-Tharad district and accused the Congress of acting like 'political vultures' by seeking political gain amid a global crisis. He criticised the opposition for instigating people instead of promoting unity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting at Nani Air Force Station in Vav-Tharad district of north Gujarat. He inaugurated or laid the foundation stone for development projects worth around Rs 19,800 crore in the state.

Modi referred to the global energy crisis triggered by turmoil in West Asia. He stated, "The problem of energy needs, that of petrol and diesel, has increased in the entire world. Even in this crisis, India has been tackling the situation – And behind this lies the successful policy of the government and the success of unity of the people of India."

He accused Congress of leading a political conspiracy by dividing people, spreading fear and rumours, and instigating unrest for gain. Modi said, "Today, when the country needs unity, Congress leaders are busy dividing people. When the country needs trust, Congress leaders are spreading fear and rumours. Today, when the country needs restraint, Congress is instigating people. Like political vultures, Congress is waiting… if and when the problems in the country worsen and they get political benefit."

Modi also alleged Congress was spreading rumours about fuel shortages and had protested at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi to tarnish India's image. He urged unity akin to that during the Covid-19 pandemic and highlighted India's stability and progress.
