Pune's Arohi Deshpande tops JEE Advanced among girls

Arohi Deshpande from Pune has emerged as the top female candidate in the JEE Advanced examination. She secured an All India Rank of 77 after results were announced on Monday.

Arohi, who studied at the ALLEN Career Institute in Kota, said the exam is both a mental and emotional journey. “JEE is not just about studying. It’s also a mental and emotional journey. It’s difficult to keep on that path, constantly studying and doing your work diligently,” she told The Indian Express.

Her parents moved from Pune to Kota after class 9 to support her preparation. Both her father Prasad Deshpande, an IT professional, and her mother Amita Deshpande, an environmental engineer, worked from home during this period. The family has since relocated to Hyderabad.

Arohi achieved a 99.996 percentile in JEE Mains and scored 96.7 percent in class 10 and 97.8 percent in class 12 board exams. She plans to pursue B.Tech in Computer Science at IIT Bombay. Out of 1,79,694 candidates who appeared for the exam on May 17, 56,880 qualified, including 10,107 females.
