Rebecca Black teases heavier new music ahead

Rebecca Black has described her upcoming music as heavier, harder, faster and louder than anything she has made before. She shared these details with Billboard during a DJ set in New York on March 27. The new project follows her 2025 album Salvation.

Rebecca Black spoke to Billboard last week while performing a DJ set in New York. Discussing music after her album Salvation, she said it has been fulfilling to blend her dance influences more deeply. Songs leaning that way have connected best with fans, she noted. Sugar Water Cyanide, the heaviest track from Salvation, became the most recognized, validating her creative direction, Black explained. She promised the new music would push further: heavier, harder, faster and louder than anything before. Black reunited with Katy Perry last year during a live show on the Lifetimes tour. Perry performed her 2011 hit Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) and surprised the crowd by bringing out Black. The pair had collaborated in the song's video, after Black went viral with her own Friday. Perry once joked about the connection: Rebecca and I both love Fridays, so that's why I asked her to be in this music video because Friday is like my favourite day of the week, and it's her favourite day of the week. Reflecting on her career in a prior NME interview, Black addressed 14 years since Friday. She felt pressure not to mention it, avoiding being defined by one song. Still, she hopes fans see her full journey, appreciating the context without dwelling on the past.
