Nineteen-year-old defenseman Rocky Langvardt has revealed that he turned down offers from several SHL clubs to stay with Leksand in HockeyAllsvenskan. The decision comes after a breakthrough season that included his SHL debut and the team's relegation.
Langvardt, who had not played a senior game a year earlier, said multiple SHL teams contacted him following his strong performance. He explained that staying aligned with his contract and development goals.
"I felt that Leksand was best for me," he told HockeyNews. He added that more playing time in HockeyAllsvenskan would aid his progress compared to limited opportunities higher up.
The player also reflected on the team's relegation, noting he cried in the locker room afterward but remains proud of his personal growth. He now expects a larger role next season while aiming to help Leksand return to the SHL.
Langvardt, raised in Bålsta, has developed strong ties to Leksand after nearly four years there and expressed commitment to the club and its fans.
