Ryan Mougenel hired as Vancouver Canucks assistant coach

Ryan Mougenel has joined the Vancouver Canucks as an assistant coach. The move follows his award-winning tenure with the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League.

Mougenel was named the winner of the Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award as the AHL’s outstanding coach for the 2025-26 season. He led the Providence Bruins to the MacGregor Kilpatrick Trophy with a 54-16-2-0 record and 110 points.

Over five seasons as head coach in Providence, Mougenel compiled a 217-103-26-14 mark. That placed him with the best record in the AHL during the last five years.

He will work under new Canucks head coach Manny Malhotra. Fellow assistants include Jordan Smith, Jason Krog and video coach Andrew Shaw.
