São Paulo confirms two new measles cases, total reaches seven in 2026

The São Paulo State Health Department confirmed two new measles cases in the state capital on Tuesday (30), bringing the total infections recorded in the state in 2026 to seven.

The new cases involve a 20-year-old woman and a 6-month-old child, neither of whom had a vaccination history. The infections were identified in an area near Guarulhos. The woman is the mother of one of the three babies diagnosed the previous week.

The department stated that the origin of the infection is still under investigation by the Epidemiological Surveillance Center (CVE-SP) together with the Ministry of Health. Since last Thursday (25), it has recommended the zero-dose triple viral vaccine for infants aged 6 months to 11 months and 29 days in São Paulo and Guarulhos.

Vaccination coverage in the state remains below the 95% target, at 85.32% for the first dose and 72.06% for the second. The department advises the public to check their vaccination status at health units.
