Security operatives arrest kidnappers, recover N8m ransom in Plateau

Joint security operatives in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State arrested two suspected kidnappers and recovered N8 million ransom paid for an abducted woman whose father was killed. The suspects were paraded by local officials who ordered the money returned to the victim's family. In a related operation, operatives rescued another kidnapped woman from a forest hideout.

Joint security operatives arrested Waltu Watter and Sale Mamma in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State. The suspects allegedly killed Alhaji Saidu Mamma during a kidnapping operation, abducted his daughter, and collected N8 million ransom from her family.

The arrests were confirmed by Hon. Dr. Christopher Audu Manship, Executive Chairman of Qua’an Pan Local Government Council, in a statement signed by his media aide, Danaan Cletus Sylvanus. During the parade of the suspects and presentation of the recovered money, Manship declared zero tolerance for criminality. “We will not allow criminals to operate in Qua’an Pan or use this local government as a hiding place after committing crimes in neighbouring councils or states,” he said.

Manship ordered the N8 million returned to the family of the late Alhaji Saidu Mamma. He commended the security agencies for their professionalism and attributed the success to collaborative efforts and divine intervention.

In a separate development, the operatives rescued Mrs. Gambo Bello, who was kidnapped from Padama in Lafia East Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and held in Pandam Game Reserve. Bello, who spent over a week in captivity, recounted an exchange of gunfire before the kidnappers fled. “The security men came and exchanged gunfire with them. After some time, the kidnappers ran away and the operatives rescued me from the bush,” she said.

Manship noted this was the third such arrest and ransom recovery in Qua’an Pan, vowing to secure border communities. He expressed gratitude to Plateau State Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for support.
